When we realise this something in us begins to shift. Tectonic plates turn the very foundation stones that we’re standing upon, maybe stuck, only seeing one direction (no, not that one direction!). a microscopic myopic point of view. Tunnel visioned into a small circle like the one you peer through at the end of the kitchen roll!
The power to create your life.
It’s enough to get you off the sofa. And the thing is, you don’t even have to know what that means, what that looks like. You only have to be curious. And brave. It strikes me that these are the keys to this create your life malarkey…
I’VE GOT THE POWER!!!
Do you remember that 90s tune “I’VE GOT THE POWER!” by Snap!
Well, do you? HAVE THE POWER? And what the fuck does that mean anyways!?
I remember looking up the ETYMOLOGY of the word power. It comes from the LATIN – ‘PODERE’ - which means ‘TO BE ABLE’.
To be able.
How cool is that?!
So, essentially TO HAVE POWER is TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO, OR BE, something.
It makes me think of the word RESPONSIBILITY. To have THE ABILITY TO RESPOND.
Or ADAPTIBILITY. To have THE ABILITY TO ADAPT.
And so on. You get the picture.
So, our first question is, WHAT ABILITIES DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE? You could call these your SUPERPOWERS!!…

Let's talk about PLAY.
I’ve decided to CHOOSE PLAY as my THEME OF CREATIVE EXPLORATION for the SUMMER MONTHS.
It’s occurring to me that ONE OF THE MOST EXPANSIVE WAYS to LIVE is in MEETING + GREETING LIFE in RESPONSE. What does that mean? Well, most of the time, we REACT to life - VIEWING the world through A LENS OF FIXED, RIGID, CONTRACTED + FEARFUL eyes! REACTING does not ALLOW MAGIC TO HAPPEN. It LIMITS our POSSIBILITIES. Now, I don’t want to life like this, and I’m guessing that you don’t want to either!
RESPONDING, on the other hand, OPENS US UP TO MIRACLES. To WONDER, AWE + OUR OWN GENIUS in delightful PLAY with everything that we experience. Sounds good hey?!

Discipline + Freedom
DISCIPLINE and FREEDOM are lovers.
This was the beginning of an email by a writer’s organisation that popped into my inbox this morning. It was the exact message I needed to hear as tears wet my cheeks.
Living in ALIGNMENT is goddamn tricky at times. It’s a constant RE-MEMBERING. Bringing ourselves back into line. Like a reverse game of Jenga!
Putting our pieces back where they belong. Rebuilding the tower of Babel that falls constantly with the busy doing that life demands of us.
Pressing The Button
Do you suspect that you are PRESSING THE BUTTON next to the one that you really really wanna press?
You see the button you long to press is RED HOT and throbbing with excitement, aliveness, playfulness and pleasure!
It’s CALLING YOUR NAME, and you know, deep down in your lil soul toes, that if you were to press it, you would be CAPTIVATED and propelled, into so much MAGIC and WONDERMENT!
It’s the button that’s marked PAINT. WRITE. DANCE. SPEAK. EXPRESS. LIVE. LOVE. CREATE.
It’s the button that means that you STAND in FULL AUTHORITY in the CENTRE of your own sweet and sassy life.
It’s the button that you know will bring you DEEP JOY, FULFILLMENT, AND SATISFACTION.
It’s the button that leads to SILLY PLAYFULNESS, SPONTANEITY, AND OH SO MUCH PLEASURE!
And yet, as you go to press it, something happens – you end up PRESSING THE BUTTON NEXT TO IT! ☹

I don’t know about you, but the thought of Tarot reading can instill a sense of toe-curling mockery and eyeball rolling from deep within. Memories of those fortune tellers ready and waiting for you to depart from your hard-earned dollar on the sea front in Blackpool; phone lines with X amount standard per minute charges to tell you something that you desperately want, nay need, to hear about the forlorn state of your love life; and kooky, stuffy, moth-ball stinky new-age shops promising to tell all about the secrets of the caverns of your heart if you cross their palm with silver!
Yep. I get it. I really do!
Long Live The Queen Within!
Who holds the keys to your Queendom? Your freedom? Your sovereignty?
A few weeks ago I was talking with a dear friend about how the Queen archetype has been welding her power in me. Requiring of me to explore her power more deeply. We spoke about how the Queen is seen as dangerous because of her power and her power is innocence.
The Art Of Passion
If desire is our driving force, then passion is its volume turned on and tuned up to high!
You see, when life, love and relationships get challenging, which they will, it's not enough just to have desire. It's too easy to give up. And we inhabit a world where this ‘giving up’ is rife, leaving us with scattered relationships, and a gnawing sense that maybe there’s something more that could have been drawn upon, that could have tended to the sparks that still glowed as embers, not quite extinguished.
We need something else, something stronger, something that is able to burn through the obstacles before us, and importantly, to burn us up, in service and sacrifice to something more. For that which we believe in; for what we ache for, yearn for; and for what we love, truly love.
Passion is this more sustainable force. It has a sacred quality to it. There's within its force an element of surrender to that which is greater than us.
Making A Meaningful Life
We are meaning making creatures, whether as artists or simply as the creators of our lives. We can’t help it. We dig deep. We want soul. We cannot live on the surface. When we feel lost and meaningless, we feel dispirited, flat, stuck, and lost. We need to make life mean. Not just in what we do, but in the ways that we spend the time between.
New Year Blessings
If you are anything like me, you felt all of these over the last year now departing like wisps of smoke. Fading into memory and into the fabric of who we are.
We look forwards and whether jaded and resigned, or excited and curious, we have no idea of the richness the year will bring.
