What If You Could Create Your Life?

I have the power.

I have the power to create my life.

You have the power to create your life.

When we realise this, something in us begins to shift. Tectonic plates turn the very foundation stones that we’re standing upon, maybe stuck, only seeing one direction (no, not that one direction!). a microscopic myopic point of view. Tunnel visioned into a small circle like the one you peer through at the end of the kitchen roll!

The power to create your life.

It’s enough to get you off the sofa. And the thing is, you don’t even have to know what that means, what that looks like. You only have to be curious. And brave. It strikes me that these are the keys to this create your life malarkey. To have fresh eyes and to rip up the cardboard roll and look out.

All of life is laid out for you. All the materials that you need to create with. A whole palette full of colours, fabric textures, all of your senses to tune into to. Everything is possible. Anything and everything are possible.

I have this written in Spanish in a pendant that a dear sister gifted me from an art street market by the beach in Marbella. It’s a locket with Frida on the front. Inside I added, in orange and red marker pen, ‘todo es possible’. In case I forget. Which I do. Often.

You have the power to create your life.

Choice is power and when we forget or get our knickers in a twist, we don’t remember that that is true. Giving our power away and we hand the grenade marked our own happiness to someone else to hold. Which is very silly considering it’s delicate and it’s ours, and one false move, and they can drop it carelessly and all will blow to a trillion smithereens of hopelessness and ash.

Our power is our own authority. Our own ability to make decisions. It’s our responsibility and we owe that to life. In fact, it occurs to me that that’s exactly the payoff for being given life: responsibility. What we do with it. How we treat it. Where exactly we stretch at it and play and roll it out like dough.

Do you know that life responds to creative energy? Life responds to life.

Read that again.

Take it in.

Let it seep through your bones like ink.

I’ve been reflecting on the following question today, one that feels riddled with jiggly excitement and possibility: ‘What if?’.

What if?

Do we let ourselves go off on a ‘what if?’ rant? A ‘what if?’ meandering into daydreaming and desiring. You see questions open things up for us, opens up the horizon into infinity when we’ve been staring down at our feet, or most likely our navels, for some time. That doesn’t help us though. Those places are fixed. Static. Finite. Questions such as ‘what if?’ are not. They create cavernous halls filled with treasure to peruse and potentially pursue. They gift us crayons and large paper to draw out on. And they give us permission to play out in the realm of imagination.

Do you ever question what brings you joy? How may you be of service? For true service brings joy. Even when we’re messy and imperfect and brimming with vulnerability. I do believe that if we could bottle vials of vulnerability what a juicy world we would be living in! The heart’s portal of connection, realness, truth and honesty.

Our thoughts create our reality. Have you ever noticed that when having a day of foul mood, how much everything and everyone irritates us? How frustration sits at the top of the pile all huffing and puffing ready to blow the house down?! And when we feel soft and open, touched by life, how the world moves differently, how much space there is, and how much kindness finds its way on to our lap with a smile, good news, and serendipitous moments of grace and wonder.

We see the world as we choose to.

And depending the shade of tint we put on each morning, we colour our lens with through this hue.

You. Yes you. Have the power to create your life!

Are you ready?
