Welcome to The Salon of Midlife & Magic

Perhaps you’re navigating menopause, a changing body, a shifting identity, a relationship in flux, a new desire, a creative itch, or the peculiar realisation that the life you’ve built is both yours and somehow not quite enough.

Perhaps nothing is particularly wrong. You just want more.

More interesting conversations. More room to experiment. More laughter, beauty, mischief and possibility. More women around you who understand that you can be experienced and still be figuring things out. Wise in some ways and gloriously clueless in others.

Women who know that life is finite, desire is alive, and there might be a few things you still want to do.

The Salon of Midlife & Magic is a small, intimate gathering for women in midlife and beyond who want more space for themselves, their ideas, their desires, their creativity, their questions, their changing lives. A place for creativity, community, honest conversation, experimentation and the occasional bit of practical magic.

A little like a salon. A little like a coven.

There is something rather wonderful about women gathering around a table. We bring our stories, our questions, our half-formed ideas, our delicious enthusiasms and our darker days. We share what we’ve learned, make things, tell the truth, laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, and see what happens when we put our heads and our lives together.

No special powers required. Though you may discover a few of your own.

Why Midlife? Why Now?

From my mid-30s to my mid-40s I spent 9 years running the Red Tent in Manchester, facilitating a monthly space for women to gather during their bleeding years. I saw what becomes possible when women have somewhere to bring their real lives, speak openly and be met by other women. Over the last few years, I’ve been wondering:

where is that space for women as we move through midlife?

We hear plenty about perimenopause and menopause, symptoms and solutions. We hear about managing the changes, staying youthful, finding ourselves again and making the best of things. But what about the bigger questions?

Who am I becoming? What matters to me now? What am I no longer willing to carry? What have I been longing to do? What do I want my life to feel like? And what happens when the woman I’ve been no longer quite fits?

What Is A Salon?

A Salon is a creative gathering place for interesting conversation, intelligent and thought-provoking ideas, art, beauty, debate, wonder and the exchange of knowledge. You come not simply to be taught, but to bring something of yourself to the room.

It’s a place to bring your questions, your half-formed ideas, your creative experiments, your enthusiasms, your doubts, your stories and your wonderfully particular way of seeing the world.

Sometimes it’s profound. Sometimes it’s practical. Sometimes it’s a really good laugh at the ridiculousness of being human.

The Salon holds all of it: the ordinary and the extraordinary, the earthy and the mysterious, the practical and the impossible-to-explain.

We meet twice a month. We talk. We share. We make things. We witness one another. We bring our creative work. We ask questions. We learn things. We celebrate. Sometimes we have a practical session. Sometimes we simply need somewhere to sit and talk.

The Salon is not about midlife. It's a salon for women in midlife.

That’s the spirit of this Salon.

Midlife is when life Shakes you and says Stop Fucking around. Be You. .

This time of life can be disorientating, infuriating, liberating, heartbreaking, hilarious and full of possibility. Sometimes all before lunch.

Our bodies change. Our relationships shift. Children leave home, or don't. Work changes. Parents age. We find ourselves thinking about time, mortality, desire, freedom and the things we still want to experience. Old identities can crumble before we have any idea what might replace them.

We’re Crones in training. For many of us this is when each footstep is the rumbling thunder and electric lightning flash of who we used to be, falling away, crumbling, not feeling that it fits us anymore.

We’re often described as mad women at this time of our lives. Crazy. Unhinged. A touch of the mad wind in our bones and belly. But this isn’t the case. We’re becoming. It’s an initiation. We’re questioning who we’ve been, where and why and what, and how the fuck did we get here!?

We’re often tired and had enough. We’ve got no shits left to give. We’re aware of the frequency of time and ageing and mortality and the grace of wondering what on earth we still have left now to do. The things we never dared before. The risks. The new love, business, project, life.

There’s a desire to burn it all down, if not to set a little few flickered flames off and see what happens next.

I don't believe we have to become serene, all-knowing women who've transcended desire. We're women who've lived. We have experiences, stories, scars, skills, appetites, regrets, wisdom and unfinished business.

What might happen if we had a place to bring all of that and discover what comes next, together?

That's why I've created the Salon, a place to be nourished by other women, to become more alive to your own possibilities and to deepen one’s connection to our own selves, our own bodies. To spirit and to the earth.

We need these spaces and places to come together. The Salon isn’t an earnest place. It’s relaxed and luxurious. It’s for those of us who know we are the Queen, the Enchantress, but want to put our feet up and bite into a juicy slice of lemon cake. To relax our bellies and laugh at the folly of it all and feel the tenderness of this transmutation.

It’s a place where we know we hold power, yet we might not have an army of women to nod in agreeance.

As we MidWife our MidLife, whatever that might look like for you, you are invited into The Salon.

The Practical Magic ~ What Happens Inside The Salon

We meet twice a month live on Zoom for 90 minutes: one Friday and one Sunday, both at 5pm UK time. Each gathering has its own flavour, though the two naturally overlap.

One gathering is for creativity, ideas and making things happen ~ Bring a project, an idea, something you’ve made or something you’ve been longing to begin. Through creative prompts, somatic practices and fresh perspectives, we make space to experiment, explore possibilities and move things forward. No homework, no pressure to produce, just room to see what happens.

The other is for conversation, connection and the actual business of being alive ~ We talk about the things that make up a life: bodies, relationships, work, ageing, menopause, desire, grief, pleasure, creativity and whatever else is on our minds. This isn't a love-and-light space. You can bring the difficult, the ridiculous, the fierce and the unfinished, the delicate and the profound. You can share as much or as little as you like. You don't have to arrive with a problem, a breakthrough or a particularly interesting update. You can simply come and be among women.

And between gatherings?

  • A private Telegram community for sharing intentions, celebrating small victories, asking questions and keeping one another company.

  • Session recordings in the private members’ area, so you can catch up when it suits you.

  • Access to the library of creative resources including my Creative Genius programmes, Creative Prescriptions and nervous-system practices, available for as long as you're a member. There's no prescribed order, homework or expectation that you work your way through everything. The live Salon is at the heart of the membership. The library is there when you want a little extra inspiration, support or something to explore in your own time.

  • Craft Sessions and creative explorations, from SoulBoard workshops to Alchemy & Talisman Making. Show & Tell, to Setting Up Substack, whatever we all need and desire to learn and create.

  • A monthly Tarot card pull to offer a little inspiration for the month ahead.

The group is small and intimate, ideally 7–13 women. You don't have to attend every gathering, share every time or arrive with a plan. If you miss one, you can watch the recording when it suits you. Listen, join in, try something new or simply settle into the room at your own pace.

Is This Salon for You?

You’re in your 40s, 50s, 60s or beyond. You might be navigating perimenopause, menopause, post menopause or another kind of transition altogether.

Perhaps you’ve spent years looking after other people, building a career, raising a family or being the person everyone relies on. Perhaps the nest is emptying, your work no longer fits, or there’s a passion project you’re finally ready to give some time to.

You’ve lived a bit. You have stories, opinions, experience, sass and a decent bullshit detector. You may have done plenty of inner work, reinvented yourself a few times and discovered that the old rules don’t necessarily fit anymore. The identity that got you through the first half of your life starts becoming constrictive:

Should I be sensible? Shouldn't I be too old for that? What will people think? Shouldn't I have sorted this out by now? Isn't it too late? Who am I if I don't do the thing I've always done? Can I really want this? Can I make this much of myself?

You’re embodied wisdom. A little mischievous, perhaps. You identify with the aunts from Practical Magic. You might hang out with the ravens and crows, nod in agreement with the trees, and suspect that being sensible isn’t always the answer.

You want to spend time with women who bring their own stories, wisdom, curiosity and glorious imperfections to the table. Women who can nourish you, challenge you, make you laugh and remind you of possibilities you’d almost forgotten.

I’ll hold the space, bring creative experiences and tools, and offer guidance where it’s useful. But the Salon isn’t about me having all the answers. The women who gather here help shape the room.

This isn’t a programme to fix you or a course to complete. It’s a place to belong to, contribute to and be nourished by.

Because when women gather, something shifts. The earth’s fire roars a little louder. And if you listen closely, you can hear the revolution.

Who's Holding the Room?

I’m Heidi Hinda Chadwick: a published author, creative coach, facilitator, speaker and performance artist.

For over 20 years, I've worked as a Creative Coach, helping people explore their creativity, navigate uncertainty and bring ideas into the world. I've spent years creating spaces for women to gather, including running the Red Tent in Manchester for nine years.

I'm also the creator and host of Full Of Ourselves, a women's business podcast that was shortlisted for the Scottish Podcast Awards. I've performed spoken word, headlined events, spoken at The Sex Lectures and shared my work through talks, performances and podcasts.

My passion has always been about taboo and about interrupting the narrative. And a lot of what I write about are those things that we think we're not allowed to say, particularly around our desires.

I’m not standing outside midlife, dispensing wisdom. I’m in it: navigating post menopause, making work, pursuing opportunities, putting myself forward, having my first book published at 53, discovering new possibilities, putting myself on stages and asking what I want next. I’m also living with changing energy, responsibilities, the realities of an ageing body and negotiating the very real limits and complications that come with this stage of life.

The Salon brings together much of what I've spent my working life exploring, alongside something deeply personal: my belief in the importance of women having places to gather through the changes of our lives, to think, make, speak freely and be alongside one another.

I'm creating the kind of space I want to be part of myself. I'd love to welcome you into it.

Membership

The launch price: £111 per month

I'm opening the Salon on 18th October, World Menopause Day, and the launch price is available for 13 days, until 31st October.

From 1st November, membership will be £147 per month.

The price you join at is your price for as long as you remain a member. So, if you join at £111 per month during the launch, you'll continue paying £111 per month even if the membership price increases in the future.

Membership begins with a 3-month commitment, after which it continues monthly. You can cancel at any time after your first three months.

I want this to be a space people choose because they want to be here, and where we have time to get to know one another and allow the room to develop.

First, let's have a chat

The Salon is intentionally small. I want it to feel like a good fit for the women who join and for the women already gathering inside it. So, rather than asking you to click a button and sign up without a conversation, I'd love to meet you first.

Book a free, no-obligation chat with me. We can talk about what you're looking for, what the Salon is, and whether it feels right for you.

You don't need to arrive with a polished explanation of why you want to join. Curiosity is enough. If it feels like a fit, I'll explain the next steps.

[BOOK YOUR FREE CHAT]

This isn't a group about becoming serene, wise old women who have transcended desire. It's much more about the psychic territory of midlife transformation. It's a space to be human, to be witnessed, to be curious, to make things, to talk about what matters, what absolutely doesn't, and to spend time with other women who are somewhere in the same wild territory.

Maybe you've been looking for something like this without quite knowing what to call it.

If you'd like to join us, I'd love to hear from you.
